In Northern Thailand Now

Took a 10 hour day trainride from Ayutthaya to Chiang Mai...wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be - but it wasn't something I'd like to do again if I could avoid it. Chiang Mai is beautiful as its Thailand's 2nd largest city. Things are so diffrent in the north - such beautiful moutaneous terrain. My friend Taryn and I decided that after a day we should shimmy up to Pai - which all of the residents of Chiang Mai seem to love. In my Lonely Planet guide- they describe as having a "hippy trail" and I could definitly see after a few minutes of being here...I saw that tie die and dread locks were in full force. Pai has this laid back feel and its a small town - which I like! Tomorrow Taryn and I will be going to do some yoga and head to the natural hot springs and are looking to do some trekking to visit some hilltribes.
